How Springfield Fostering Supports Its Foster Carers

Foster carers play a vital role in the lives of children and young people who need safe, stable and caring homes. At Springfield Fostering we recognise the experience, commitment and compassion foster carers bring, and we truly value the difference they make every single day. Because of this, we are dedicated to offering personalised support that strengthens both carers and the children they look after.

Our approach to support begins the moment a child or young person is matched with a fostering family during the placement planning stage. From there, support is adjusted as required through ongoing communication and regular reviews of each family’s individual needs.

The support Springfield Fostering provides

We are committed to offering a high level of guidance and assistance to every foster carer within our agency. This includes:

  • Access to Springfield Fostering support services at any time of the day or night throughout the entire year.

  • Regular supervision and support from qualified and experienced staff.

  • A dedicated supervising social worker from Springfield Fostering.

  • Frequent home visits and consistent telephone contact from the agency.

  • Short break arrangements when extra support is required.

  • Access to an independent specialist when additional needs are identified.

  • Family support workers who work directly with children and young people.

  • Training opportunities and ongoing development sessions.

  • Financial support that reflects the skills and commitment of foster carers, including additional payments for birthdays, celebrations and holidays.

  • The option to name trusted individuals within the fostering family’s own support network, all of whom will have enhanced DBS checks and an interview to ensure they understand their responsibilities when caring for children in the foster carer’s absence.

  • Dedicated foster carer support groups.

  • Tailored training packages designed to meet the needs of each household.

Our commitment to stability and nurturing homes

Many children referred to us may have experienced disruption or instability in the past. Springfield Fostering aims to reduce the likelihood of further uncertainty by ensuring foster carers feel supported, confident and resilient. We work with carers to help them build strong, positive relationships with the children in their care and to offer nurturing and loving homes.

For these reasons, we place great importance on providing high quality, relevant and responsive support at all times. Our goal is to ensure that every carer feels valued and every child is given the stability and care they deserve.
